State checkers tournament to make its return to Lebanon

Checkers enthusiasts need
look no further than the Comfort Suites in Lebanon to
see some great competition this weekend.
The Tennessee Checker Association will hold its Tennessee Open Checker Tournament on Friday through Sunday.
The tournament has found its home in Lebanon for the past 15 years.
“We had it at the Executive Inn beside Cracker Barrel for many years, and this year we moved it to the Comfort Suites,” said J.R. Smith with the Checker Association.
The tournament is expected to bring together around 25-30 players.
Originally 40 members were invited, but Smith said “with the bad weather we’ve had some people call and say they didn’t want to drive in the bad weather.
“We’d thought about canceling it, but decided not to,” Smith said.
Registration begins Friday at 1 p.m., and play will begin at 3 p.m.
